Hypoglycemia: The Musical

February 9, 2011

Ever wonder what goes through a diabetic-musician’s head when the sugar’s being sucked rapidly out of every globule of her blood?

Here are some of the many songs that pop into my head while I’m foraging for dried fruit, gasping for maple syrup, our pouncing on a ripe banana.

For the relaxing, meditative hypo attacks when the life-draining of my blood yields a rather pleasant, hazy vision of the holy spirit.

For my groovy dance-floor hypos that have me swinging my hips all the way to the kitchen fridge.

For those dramatic, angsty night-hypos when my lust for sugar is fierce and fiery.

Stay tuned for my one-year D-Anniversary Mixtape!! On sale soon, exclusively at Running with Diabetes.

“I whistle a happy tune, so no one will suspect I’m afraid.”
